I thought in Punchestown the last day he was lucky not to be brought down when I thought he was going well and it affected his momentum. He also had cheekpieces on and they seemed to light him up. I thought today's trip might be short for him as he stays three miles so we made plenty use of him. He doesn't want deep winter ground as he has small feet and is a handy horse but he is game. We'll look for much the same next, maybe back over 2m4f. I thought my lad in the first (third-placed Winding River) had the better chance coming here.

I really like this horse. I brought him to Ballinrobe first time out and he was as green as grass. I didn't think it would be possible for him to win but he did. Philip wasn't over hard on him the last day behind Barry Connell's horse but the next time he meets him it'll be a different ball game. This trip is totally too short for him. A couple of my horses got sick and while she was doing good work at Christmas and didn't have what the others had, she had an infection after she had swelling in a back leg. She is well-bred, we have her whole family at home and she is bred by by wife. She has a Diamond Boy-half-brother called Handmedownastar who is the marker for her, as he is a good bit better than her. She is an out-and-out stayer and will make a chaser. Luke works seven days a week for us so it was good to give him a chance today. Noel (O'Connor, owner) is from Kanturk, is a brother of my wife's and lives in Boston so this is great.

He came to me from England and it’s taken a long time for the penny to drop with him and to get through all his little issues. The talent has always been there if we could get him to want to do it. He’s just changed inside out this year, it’s brilliant. Eoin gave him a brilliant ride. I’m so happy for the owner Jules Sigler, if he wasn’t on board with me I would have been gone long ago. He’s got three horses with me all the time and he’s been a great supporter. He’s a gorgeous horse and he deserves that. I thought he was a mudlark but it shows that sort of ground is perfect for him. Whenever they went down to the first hurdle they were going faster than in the Derby today, it was ridiculous the speed. Eoin gave him a lovely patient ride and came with that one blast at the end.

This is a lovely horse, he's a half-brother to Fairyhill Run,. My cousin Tom Meagher bred him and the mother died when he was only three weeks old. Then his foster mother had bits of problems, it's only now he's growing into a horse. He's a useful horse. He'll go to Listowel now for the winners of one novice. He wants further, he's out of a Flemensfirth mare. Fairyhill Run is a brilliant mare, she won a lot for us. She got an injury but it looks like she'll come back. I'd say he's way better than her, he's exciting. He's not very big yet but he's a nice one and he won that race with a bit in hand.

He had promised a lot, but that was a very long time coming. He was a bit non-committal about everything, so I jumped him over banks and ditches hoping to ignite his enthusiasm, which I think it did. I wasn't expecting this but he was very good, and I'm delighted for his owner Jules Sigler who also won with Westandtogether at Navan recently. He’s a great supporter and if it weren’t for him, I might be working at the checkout in SuperValu!. Georgie gave him a gorgeous ride and when I was doing my Gordon Elliott gig, she won the Ladies Derby in the Curragh, so she has sort-of ridden for me! She is well able to ride and did exactly what was needed to be done today.
