Brain Power still in Arkle picture following wind operation

Brain Power is still in line to make an appearance at the Cheltenham Festival in March.

The Nicky Henderson-trained seven-year-old made a fine start to his chasing career when winning in some style at Kempton in November, but things have not gone to plan since.

He went to Sandown for the Henry VIII Novices' Chase after Kempton but unseated at the last when looking held by Sceau Royal, and then fell in the Clarence House Chase at Ascot won by Un De Sceaux.

As short as 10-1 with some firms, the Michael Buckley-owned gelding is a best-priced 16-1 for the Racing Post Arkle Trophy Novices' Chase.

Henderson said: "He has had his palate cauterized.

"We put him in the Arkle. He will be back for that and he should be fine."
