Slattery takes the crown as Lauderdale wins the finale Lauderdale King capped off a tremendous week for the Slattery team as he scored comprehensively in the Follow Us On Instagram Handicap at Cork over a mile and a half, giving the trainer a double on the day. After six unsuccessful runs, the gelding by King Of Change needs a cut in the ground to perform at his best, as previously shown when he was third at Leopardstown on Soft to Heavy conditions. Andy Slattery Jnr had the four-year-old settled in a prominent position behind two clear leaders, although he was three wide after breaking from stall 19. He then travelled smoothly to dispute the lead over two furlongs out. Rory Brennan's gelding was ridden along and ran into a clear lead inside the final two furlongs. From 11/2 into 2/1 favourite, the extremely well-backed bay kept on well and was eased down close home to score by two and a quarter lengths from Justenzia (8/1). Louiescall completed the podium, beaten by three lengths. "He was crying out for a bit of ease in the ground so we fancied him today when we got a bit of rain," said Slattery. "He ran well in Leopardstown but the ground was a bit quick for him. Hopefully he'll get another one in that grade. "He jumps well and he'll go over hurdles. He's a grand horse.
