Celestial Wave Drifts To 31-1 On Betfair Last Night

Celestial Wave took a mysterious walk from 7-1 to 31-1 on Betfair last night for the Ladbrokes World Hurdle - but is now back into 7-1 for the race.

The fast progressing mare, a 5 length winner from Studmaster in a Grade 3 contest at Gowran Park last time, was backed at 509-1 on Betfair when the market first opened after last year´s Festival - but, at one point last night on the exchange, it looked as though even that price would be exceeded.

At 10.30pm, Celestial Wave was 31-1 to ´back´ on Betfair and the only order queuing up to back her was EUR4 at 799-1.

However, the current Betfair betting appears to confirm that the rumours that forced the drift are just that - rumours. And seemingly wild and incorrect ones at that.

Meanwhile, Black Jack Ketchum, once backed at 5-6 for the race on Betfair, continues to drift with every drop of rain - he now is available at 7-1.

Betfair´s Irish spokesman Eoin Ryan commented: 'Celestial Wave took a walk in the market last night and at one point the signs were bad for her legion of followers. However, within an hour of that dramatic price drift she was back into around 10-1 and this morning she´s back to 7-1.'

To win the Ladbrokes World Hurdle - Betfair bet: 7-2 Inglis Drever, 13-2 Blazing Bailey, 7-1 Black Jack Ketchum, 7-1Celestial Wave, 8-1 Mighty Man, 13-1 Kasbah Bliss.
