Theemeraldempress completed a 27/1 plus double on the evening for Gavin Cromwell when making a successful debut under Rules in the Caherty Stables Racing Syndicate Point-To-Point INH Flat Race at Downpatrick.

The Walk In The Park filly was just denied in a point-to-point at Loughanmore last month for Sean Doyle and subsequently changed hands for 70,000 pounds at Aintree.

The 2/1 favourite made smooth headway under Billy Cooney to lead about three furlongs out and kept on strongly in the straight to beat the staying on Dinner Dance by two and a quarter lengths with Majestic Horizon the same distance further back in third.

Cromwell was also on the mark earlier with Everest The Brave (17/2).

Coonan said, “She had form in the point-to-points.

“She did it very nicely. She was a bit keen and did a bit too much everywhere and got to the front very early, but she kicked on well.

“A nice filly and a good family.

“I ride out in Gavin's there during the summer and have a good association with Derek O'Connor as well.

“My family was always involved in horses.”
