Denman as Big as 4s for Gold Cup

There were changes galore in the Cheltenham Gold Cup market after Denman lost at Kempton in the Levy Board Chase on Saturday.

Madison Du Berlais put in a tremendous display to beat Denman by 23 lengths, and David Pipe's runner was slashed from 66-1 to as short as 5-1 with totesport.

He's a general 8-1 chance, though 10-1 is available in places.

Denman drifts to 4-1 with Sky Bet and Ladbrokes, which means stablemate Kauto Star is the new 6-4 favourite generally.

The King George winner is as big as 2-1 with Stan James.

Michael Shinners of Sky Bet reflected afterwards: "Denman looked understandably ring rusty but, even allowing for that, he didn't appear to be the same horse who carried all before him last season.

"Given those doubts we've pushed him out to 4-1 from 6-4 and clipped stablemate Kauto Star into 6-4 favourite from 5-2. Today's winner Madison Du Berlais is now 8-1 from 50-1 to follow up in the Gold Cup."
