- Harty hoping Ennis can shake up market leaders
Harty hoping Ennis can shake up market leaders
Edward Harty is aware of the task facing Siege Of Ennis in the Fred Winter Juvenile Novices´ Handicap Hurdle - but feels he holds a "good each-way chance" in the extended two-miler.
Formerly a useful Flat horse, the four-year-old got off the mark over timber in January before showing up well against his elders the following month.
Harty believes conditions are just about ideal and hopes Siege Of Ennis is well enough treated to give hotpots Ashkazar and River Liane plenty to think about on Tuesday.
The David Pipe-trained four-year-old took apart a competitive field to win the Imperial Cup on Saturday and chases a #75,000 bonus here, while the latter, trained by Tom Cooper, sluiced home at Leopardstown at the start of the month.
Of Siege Of Ennis, Harty said: "He will appreciate the rain, he´s in good nick and travelled over well.
"I couldn´t be happier with him, Barry Geraghty rides him and I think he has a good each-way chance.
"He ran a good race last time but it just ended up a little bit messy. It´ll be a much quicker-run race tomorrow and he´s back against his own age group.
"On paper it will be hard to beat David Pipe´s horse and the one of Tom Cooper´s.
"But the race isn´t run on paper and I think we´re there with a good each-way chance."
