SunAlliance Beckons For Robbie

Wee Robbie is likely to take his chance in the Royal & SunAlliance Chase rather than the Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase at Cheltenham next week.

Nick Gifford's seven-year-old chased home Gungadu at Ascot on his last start, but connections are not shying away from taking on his stable companion Denman in the extended three-mile contest.

'I've been thrilled with Wee Robbie, he is absolutely bouncing at home,' said Gifford.

'We were going to go for the Jewson, but I should think now, although I'll have to speak to the owner, I'm leaning towards the SunAlliance.

'We'll decide nearer the time, but I just think the race might cut up a bit and three miles in soft ground should suit as he is a relentless galloper and I think that would be more up his street.

'He would have an outside each-way chance.'
