- Surprise Option For Sublimity
Surprise Option For Sublimity
Smurfit Kappa Champion Hurdle hero Sublimity could tread an unfamiliar path by bidding for further honours in the Scottish version at Ayr.
Jubilant trainer John Carr has nominated the race as a potential next port of call, but also has his eyes on some nice prizes on the level.
'We might break the mould and go for the Scottish Champion Hurdle next ? the track should suit him,' he explained.
'We think he has enough speed to win a Group Two on the Flat, though, so we might put him away and prepare him for that.
'He wasn't beaten far in a Group Two when he was with Sir Michael Stoute so that could be the way we'll go with him.'
Sublimity has reportedly come out of the opening day's showpiece event in great shape.
His 16-1 triumph provided rider Philip Carberry with his first Festival winner, and despite ultimately dethroning Brave Inca by a stylish three lengths, Carr admits he endured a few nervy moments.
'He was never going to get beat at any stage,' he said.
'But I wasn't best pleased with Philip when he started looking round ? I would rather he just kept his head down and carried on riding!'
