Tiger gives Russell double

Davy Russell followed up his win on Naiad Du Misselot earlier on Friday by completing a 67-1 Festival double on Tiger Cry in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase.

Tiger Cry (15-2) took it up two out and the Arthur Moore-trained 10-year-old kept on strongly to land the spoils by three lengths from 3-1 favourite My Petra.

The latter could not quite peg back the winner in a race named after his trainer Nicky Henderson´s late father.

Calatagan (50-1) was a head away third with Andreas, last year´s winner, fourth.

Moore said: "It´s great to be back in the winner´s enclosure here.

"We were a shade worried about the easing of the ground but he had a good preparation for the race and Davy gave him a great ride."

Tiger Cry is owned by Chris Jones, who saw Klairon Davis carry his silks to victory at Cheltenham in the Arkle of 1995 and Queen Mother Champion Chase the following year.

Moore continued: "I´m delighted for Chris, who has been such a fantastic supporter of the yard over the years and it´s the climax to what has been a lovely week.

"I think we´ll run over hurdles next at Punchestown where there is a race for him on the Saturday sponsored by Ballymore."

Naiad Du Misselot (7-1) had earlier denied Kicks For Free by a short head in the Coral Cup after another thrilling finish.

Russell brought the Ferdy Murphy-trained gelding from the rear to lead close home and just hold Kicks For Free.
