Zaarito to be aimed at Fairyhouse
Colm Murphy will aim novice chaser Zaarito at the home Festivals rather than a trip to Cheltenham after the mistake-prone gelding's three falls in five starts over fences.
The eight-year-old has failed to complete the course on his last two outings including coming down at the final fence when holding every chance in the Dr PJ Moriarty Novice Chase at Leopardstown two weeks ago.
"He has been very frustrating. The annoying thing is that he's a very good horse and he was proving it the last day," Murphy told At The Races.
"He looked as though he was going to win. He didn't put a foot wrong until the last fence. He has fallen three times now and had he not fallen at the last, we would have said how well he did jump and what a brilliant leaper he was."
"We have done a lot of schooling with him since and we have changed things with him. It is frustrating when you see the way he jumped at Leopardstown over Christmas when he won. We've seen with Master Minded and Denman they are not perfect either."
"He'll skip Cheltenham and go to Fairyhouse for something like the Powers Gold Cup. He'll be a better horse next year, I would think."
