Keane doubles up on Teoest The 84-rated Teoest (7/4) got his head in front in the extended 10-furlong maiden in Roscommon. This was his fifth start with a best previous effort of second in Listowel last month. Colin Keane came in for the ride for the first time. Jim Bolger's charge dropped back in trip for this assignment and came off the bridle in second behind Navy Guitar entering the straight. Teoest warmed to his task, though, and wore down Navy Guitar with just over a furlong to travel. He increased his margin in the final 150 yards and kept on to see off a keeping-on Saliba (6/1) by two and three quarter lengths. Navy Guitar dropped more than five lengths further back to third at 25/1. This gave Keane a double after the earlier success of Zarenakarena (16/1). Ger Flynn, Travelling Head Lad, said:- “We dropped back from a mile and a half to a mile and a quarter. “Colin came back in and said, ‘he’s a beautiful horse, very straightforward and a gorgeous-moving horse’. “He said when he steps back up to a mile and a half, and even going further, you’ll see the real deal. “He relished the ground today and he said he’ll make a beautiful jumping horse. He said he loved him to bits and that he was never stopping. “He’s in the October Horses In Training Sale at Newmarket at the end of the month and that’s probably where he’ll go now.” Additional reporting by Gary Carson
