Owner Alurie O'Sullivan and trainer Eugene O'Sullivan had a disappointment at Clonmel yesterday when Super Citizen had to be pulled up, but they'll be hoping for better when their star hunter chaser It Came To Pass makes his return.
The Cork trainer's daughter Maxine was aboard Super Citizen, and she of course enjoyed a never to be forgotten day when It Came To Pass landed the St. James´s Place Foxhunter Challenge Cup Open Hunters´ Chase at Cheltenham in March.
It Came To Pass may have been a 66/1 shot. He achieved victory by a stylish ten lengths from Billaway though, and his handler is now not fully sure what path he'll take on return to the Cotswolds this spring.
“It Came To Pass is in great form and we are delighted with him. Everything is according to plan except that the point-to-points are cancelled," said Eugene O'Sullivan.
“I was going to give him a run in Belclare and he’ll have to go now to either Naas or Thurles and we haven’t decided whether we will go or not. Last year we didn’t go anywhere and we did alright!
“If the ground is alright we’ll consider going for one of those and if not he might go straight to Cheltenham. He’s in great order.
“Cheltenham always was the plan since last year and he comes better in the spring. Hopefully we can go to Fairyhouse and Punchestown after that.”
