4 for Ryan & 3 for Joseph as Thundering On enters Arc picture Thundering On returned to winning ways when benefitting from a confident hold up ride by Ryan Moore to land the Group 2 Moyglare ‘Jewels’ Blandford Stakes at the Curragh. The Frankel filly took the Betfred Oaks at Epsom in impressive fashion but the combination of fast ground and a drop back in trip proved her undoing here subsequently in the Paddy Power Pretty Polly Stakes. Moore held up the 5/4 favourite towards rear before making gradual progress in the straight and swept to the front inside the final furlong. She kept on well to beat Lilt by a length and a half with Red Letter a nose further back in third. The victory completed a four-timer on the afternoon for Moore while trainer Joseph O’Brien was saddling a treble. O’Brien said, “I’m really delighted with her. Obviously she had a little blip the last day, but we learned a lot on the day, and we were able to use that today. Hopefully we’re in for an exciting autumn. “Ryan was very impressed with her which is a good sign.” On the prospect of the Arc he added, “I think she’s interesting there. We know that she stays the mile-and-a-half and she likes a bit of juice in the ground. “I thought she did very well to win from where she did today. It’s not easy to come from the back here at the Curragh and Ryan felt the same. “She loved having a good pace to run at and loved getting a bit of juice in the ground. “I’ll look forward to discussing with Shapoor and Pallon (Mistry) and Anthony (Stroud) over the next few days where we’ll lock in for our next spot.” Moore said, “She travels beautifully and has a serious turn of foot. “What Aidan, Joseph and Donnacha have done today just shows you what a fantastic job they are doing.” Paddy Power cut Thundering On into 8/1 (from 12/1) for the Arc.
