McCoy waiting for all-clear

Tony McCoy will have to wait until Friday morning before he learns if he has the all-clear from the British Horseracing Authority to ride at the Cheltenham Festival.

The Co. Antrim-born jockey received a positive verdict on his recovery from a back injury from his own surgeon last week, but must undergo an independent assessment at the request of BHA chief medical officer, Dr Michael Turner.

McCoy´s personal assistant Gee Bradburne explained on Thursday: "AP is seeing independent specialist Mr Peter Hamlyn tonight and his report will then be sent to Dr Turner, who must then review it.

"I have spoken to Dr Turner and it will be the morning when we know the outcome. We will let everyone know then."
