Alarazi could make jumping debut at Kempton

Terry Mills' Alarazi is under consideration for Saturday's williamhill.com Dovecote Novices' Hurdle at Kempton despite never having jumped a hurdle in public.

The ex-John Oxx-trained runner is held in high regard by current connections and Mills' assistant Richard Ryan is hoping the five-year-old can book his ticket to the Cheltenham Festival with a prominent showing at the weekend.

"It took us a while to learn about his idiosyncrasies but he is a very high-class worker and we are expecting big things of him this year," said Ryan.

"He showed some very smart form on the Flat for John Oxx last year and he was a nostril away from winning a Group race so he clearly has plenty of talent.

"We've gelded him since his arrival and he took that quite well but he just had one small setback that has stopped him turning out earlier than now.

"We do think an awful lot of him and if the weekend goes to plan, then he may take his chance in the Supreme Novices' Hurdle at Cheltenham.

"It's a big ask but unfortunately that is just the way things have panned out.

"He's in the Dovecote and in at Towcester on Sunday but he'll probably go to Kempton."
