Beau Ripe For Annual Comeback

Evan Williams expects Demi Beau to put up a bold show in the Johnny Henderson Grand Annual Chase at the Cheltenham Festival.

The nine-year-old has been off the track since notching an impressive win in a valuable contest at Ascot last November but Williams is unconcerned by his lengthy absence.

'He's a horse with an immense amount of talent,' said the Welsh handler.

'He was very, very impressive when he won at Ascot a week before the Hennessy and I've given him plenty of time to get over those exertions and go to Cheltenham in very fresh, good form with himself.

'His work has been exceptional and I hope that he will get to the Grand Annual in one piece ? if he does, I think he would have a good chance.'

Demi Beau is already a winner over hurdles at Cheltenham and although he crashed out in the Jewson Novices' Handicap Chase at last year's Festival, the track holds no fears for Williams.

'I'm not concerned about the track, he did win over hurdles at Cheltenham and he went well until falling two from home in the Jewson last year,' he told At The Races.

'He has had a bit of experience round there.

'I like the horse, he's got a big engine, he's a very classy animal and I just think that the main concern is getting there in one piece.'

Demi Beau is a general 10-1 shot for the Grand Annual on Friday week.
