Khyber on course for Champion

Last year's runner-up Khyber Kim will bid to go one better in this year's Stan James Champion Hurdle at the Cheltenham Festival after trainer Nigel Twiston-Davies confirmed he'll go for the race.

After a disappointing run on his seasonal reappearance in the Christmas Hurdle at Kempton his Festival target was unclear but Twiston-Davies has now confirmed he'll go for the Champion again.

"He's going for the Champion Hurdle," Twiston-Davies told At The Races.

"I was slightly disappointed after Kempton but he blew hard afterwards. He wasn't beaten that far, he wasn't that bad, it was just his first run of the season and we'll have him right for the Champion Hurdle.

"He'll have a racecourse gallop at some stage."

Sky Bet remain 25/1 about Khyber Kim for the Champion Hurdle but Boylesports cut him to 16s folowing the news.
