Too Bossy For Us trained by Willie Mullins for the H O S Syndicate who won this 12 months ago with subsequent Breeders’ Cup hero Ethical Diamond, got on top on the run-in to land the ThatPrizeGuy.co.uk Maiden Hurdle at Punchestown.

The Golden Horn gelding, far from disgraced in Grade 1 company over hurdles last spring and rated in the 90s on the Flat, was heavily backed into 4/7 in the morning but drifted out to 5/4 at the off with Speculateur going off the evens favourite.

The front-running market leader came under pressure in the straight and was headed approaching the final flight by Too Bossy For Us.

Paul Townend ’s mount kept on well on the run-in to score by two and a half lengths with Mino Des Mottes putting in some good work in the closing stages to complete a 1-2 for the champion trainer.

Speculateur couldn’t find any extra a further length and a quarter back in third.

Mullins said, “He did it nicely. It was a slow enough run contest and we’d have preferred a faster one.

“He still has a bit of improving to do, and he jumped the last very high which showed he has plenty left in the tank.

“Once he learns to come down and hurdle properly, he should improve more.

“He has enough class for the Supreme, but we’ll have a look and see what races he’s in and what he’s qualified for. We won’t make a decision at this stage.

“He’ll hopefully be a horse that will be dual-purpose during the summer. He’s a horse that we might try and qualify for the Melbourne Cup as well.”

Paddy Power left the winner unchanged at 40/1 for the Supreme and 33/1 (from 50/1) for the Turners at the Cheltenham Festival.
