Scu confident in Madison Gold Cup chance

Tom Scuadmore is confident his Levy Board Chase winner Madison Du Berlais will stay the trip in the totesport Cheltenham Gold Cup.

David Pipe's charge slammed Denman in the Kempton showpiece yesterday to earn single-figure quotes from bookmakers for chasing's blue riband.

'I'm absolutely positive he will stay,' the jockey told Attheraces.

'I have no fear over the trip. He is very versatile, he's won on flat and undulating tracks, left-handed and right-handed tracks, he is a pleasure to ride.'

'He travelled very well and jumped from fence to fence and kept finding more at Kempton. It's a tremendous thrill to ride a horse like him and one I hope I can enjoy again!'

Scudamore hopes his partner is ready for the acid test next month. When asked if he feels like a Gold Cup horse he added, 'It's hard to say as I've never ridden a Gold Cup horse before but the way he did it at Kempton was a great thrill. While Denman wasn't at his best they can't all have run badly.'
