Tidal well after Arkle romp

Tidal Bay has been given a clean bill of health following his Arkle romp at Cheltenham on Tuesday.

Howard Johnson´s charge quashed concerns over stable form and his ability to jump at championship two-mile pace when slamming his rivals by an emphatic 13 lengths and more.

Connections will now keep an open mind regarding a possible appearance at Aintree, although they are in no doubt as to the class of horse they have on their hands.

Johnson said: "Tidal Bay is grand after his race and he´s just on his way back now. It´ll be nice to get him home and out of all this wind.

"I´ll see how he is and give him a week off, then we´ll have a look at Aintree and decide if we go there with him.

"If we decided against it I suspect he´ll just be put out in his field (for the season).

"I´ve always liked him, he´s a very good horse."
