Formscan By Mark Nunan - Curragh trainer Aidan Howard has had a few horses run well in recent weeks and it looks like he is on the cusp of a winner or two. BHEAN SAIBHRE was in fine form in both codes when last seen and handles heavy ground. She has to overcome a six-month absence but her light weight is a positive. Grann’s Boy was progressive over hurdles last year and also landed a two-mile Flat handicap at Thurles. Kool One is a course and distance winner and he ran well when last seen on the Flat at Gowran Park in October, while You Make Me Smile is another dual-purpose type who finished last season on the upgrade. %0A%0A%0A

He was a good hurdler last year but then had three-year-old-hurdler 'syndrome' although is back to himself now. He had a good run up north the last day and we took him out twice recently as the ground was too quick but it is lovely here. . Two of his owners travelled down last night from Armagh and are staying tonight so this is great. We might go for a handicap hurdle at Tipperary on Super Sunday next month.

Quotes on Kool One (SPA)
On paper he was entitled to win it, but he still had to go and do it. He had a good look at the second last and even the last when he was in front, but he done it nicely enough. We thought he was off a nice mark and he grew a lot during the summer. We let him off after Fairyhouse (in April) and just took our time with him. Galway didn't really work out, the draw killed us, but we fancied him at Roscommon where he made hard work of it, but won anyway. He was fit and well in himself coming here today, so it was nice to see him go and do that. He chased home some good ones over the winter. The Lartigue has been on the cards for a long time, it's sometime we picked out after Cheltenham. It's all systems go for that. I don't know if the handicapper will touch him after today, but he'll probably be still off a nice mark. The Lartigue is a nice race to go for and hopefully he will step up again and be competitive in it.

He missed the second-last but Donagh (Meyler) thought that he was going to get back up,. We paid a good few quid (55,000gns) for him out of Andrew Balding's and he took time to come right. He is tough and hardy now, stuck his head out and it was a nice pot to win. He was the first Kingman to win over fences, at Wexford last year. I've no real plan next, as today had been the plan.

He wasn’t winning out of turn. It wasn’t exactly a strong race, but he had been running consistently well in that grade. It’s just great to get it done for the owners (Joe Bolger) today. Obviously, he took a heavy fall only a week-and-a-half ago (in Killarney), but he’s always schooled well at home and I’d say that the run over jumps probably did help him. Hopefully he’ll be winning over jumps as well.

his Galway run was over two miles where his owners wanted a runner, and things went wrong having made mistakes. He just wasn’t right after the race so we gave him time and he is back to himself. There’s no doubt the further he goes, the better he is and while he also was in the three-mile hurdle earlier this week, I felt he had too much weight for a young horse. He’ll stay three miles and is a big horse who will also jump a fence. He is a nice horse to have.
