He is ground and trip versatile. It was a very messy race and they went pretty steady early and it turned into a sprint. He showed a little bit of class there although it is probably hard to weigh up off that race. You probably could go back to 2m4f, but I think he will stay 3m very well. That was a good performance. She was very unlucky at Tipperary the last day where she just got chinned on the line. The 2m6f definitely suited her today. They went a good gallop on the good ground, and it played to her strengths. She wouldn't be that scopey, but she jumped very well today. It was a good performance. The favourite never jumped a fence and was never going and she took full advantage of that. She deserved to win a beginners chase. She's won a point-to-point and a hurdle too, so she's going in the right direction. I'm delighted for Matt Fitzgerald as well, he is a good owner. Today was the plan for the moment. She is rated 115 and we'll see what the handicapper does. She could go back into a handicap and has plenty of experience now. She wants nice ground. She has form on softer ground as well, but she is definitely better on nicer ground. She jumps a lot better on nicer ground.

It’s always great to get a double, I think that’s the first one in my name,. We dropped him back to two and a half (miles) today knowing that he should get that. I was a bit surprised how easily he won it, taking on the horses he was taking on. He always had the ability. We’ll see where we got with him now and see what the handicapper does. He was 124 today and we’ll have to see where we go now next time, whether he’s good enough for some of the novice races. We might stick him in and see.

We were waiting on the declarations to see if he’d get in and we didn’t know until about 10.15. It was a long 15 minutes!. It’s wonderful, we are a small team and we enjoy the craic. They are fantastic owners and have been very patient. We ran him in a Triumph Hurdle three years ago, when he was 300/1, and he ran well in it. We thought we’d have great fun with him but it’s taken a while. I really wanted to win a hurdle race with him because he’s won on the Flat and won a chase for us. All the owners are here and we’ll enjoy, on a fine day like this at Punchestown.

Good things come in small parcels. He was bred by the starter (Joe Banahan) and he’s a half-brother to Sheishybrid. His other half-brother (Athlumney Warrior) won for Michael O’Callaghan on the all-weather. It’s a good family and has been lucky for us. He’ll mix it between the Flat and jumping and I’m hoping he might get one of the good Flat handicaps somewhere during the summer. He’s not very big but he carried 11-12 there and he jumps brilliant. I always said he was too small to be jumping but the first day we schooled him all he wanted to do was go. I’m sure the better ground will be a help to him.

It means the world to win with a homebred filly, and we’ve had this family for four or five generations. She was very unlucky at Limerick where she had a hard fall, and I think in Roscommon she was jumping big and slow and needed confidence. We freshened her up and thought she was in good form coming here today in her first handicap. She won her point-to-point and three miles is no problem to her. He is an interesting horse to train, he is a quirky devil and I have to go to the start every day with him,. He has had his issues at the start in the past and Natalie Bradley, who rides him every day and led him up today, does a great job with him. She has transformed him, as he was a very difficult horse when he first came to me. and gets on really well with him. He was much better behaved today and whether the (first-time) blinkers helped, I'm not too sure. It can be a contradiction in him wearing a hood or blinkers, but it seems to work. This is his level, he loves that testing ground and we'll save his chase mark for next season.
