Formscan By Gary Carson - ROYAL RHYME has some very strong Group 1 form in the book. He only made the track twice last season and was a commendable fifth to Los Angeles in the Tattersalls Gold Cup here last May. The pick of his form is a third-placed effort in the Champion Stakes at Ascot in October 2024. He has an absence to overcome but should appreciate this ground. Green Impact is another interesting one on his return. He picked up an injury after finishing fourth in the York Stakes last July but is a talented sort and could play a big role in this. Group 1 winning two-year-old Twain is a fascinating runner but may be best watched after a long absence.

He looks a nice horse. We thought he'd run well and he'll have learned a lot. He was green in the middle of the race there but I thought he went to the line well. It was a good performance on debut. I'm not sure where we go now, it's a difficult enough spot when you win first time at this time of year. He'll probably end up going for a winners' race. You wouldn't be rushing to go 12 but he should get it.

You can see the size of him. He’s a very good horse, he’s a four-year-old all day long,. We ran him in Leopardstown and dropped him out the back, he still ran green there — he’s a big backward horse. I think the sky's the limit when he gets to four. I think he is a very good horse. He beat a horse rated 101 there and he said he was idling the whole way up the straight. He nearly got himself beat looking around the place, he’s just a big baby. We made the wrong decision the last day, he’s just a galloper. He wasn’t hard on him and he was running on in the finish. We were happy but disappointed with what we did ourselves, the way we rode him. We probably should have been second or third if we rode him more forward. Today around the track he didn’t travel early on, he’s just a big baby. I think he could be a Melbourne Cup horse. I think he’ll get a mile-and-a-half or two miles when he steps up. I would love to put him away for another while and wait until September or October. The owners wanted me to bring him back and run him, I didn’t want to run him until then anyway but the owners wanted to go again. I’ll give him another little break now.

Nobody wanted to go on and he only dosses in front. Shane said he was squeezing him along all the way. When the other horse came to him it looked like he was going to go past him, but he keeps lengthening. All being well he’ll go straight to the Irish Derby. Shane can’t wait to see him run over a mile and a half. I know he’s by Wootton Bassett but he’s out of a Galileo mare so you’d hope that he will stay.

That was lovely. As I said to Barry (Mahon, Juddmonte racing manager) she’s crying out for that trip but is probably only ready for it now,. You can see it in her physically, she’s only filling her frame. We’ll have a look at the Blandford. The ground is very important, she needs ease in the ground. We have a lovely horse to look forward to next year. We’ve just had to be so patient with her. You can see the size of her there, she was angular, and she should only be starting now. Hopefully she’ll fulfil all of her potential in the next 12 months. She’s a filly to look forward to. We’re looking forward to the end of this year, which is Champions Weekend – which is very important to us. Obviously the family have their say on her, but we’ve been training her with all of this in mind, the back end and next year. It looks like she’s going to fulfil her potential and thank us for being patient. I think she can get a mile and a half no problem.

He won really well. He had a great run in Galway in a strong race and he had a nice freshen-up since. He handled the soft ground well and it’s a big advantage down there today. We could look at something like the Finale Stakes (at the Curragh on November 2nd) . He’s not EBF qualified so we have to mix and match where we go. He’s a smart horse and I’d say he’s going to end up in stakes company.

She finished fourth in a Listed race (Dundalk, November) and we were unlucky not to get black type that day. Probably she will go to Newcastle as well, for the mile. I will try and get black type with her next season. When she learns how to race, I think she will stay a mile and two no problem. At the moment, she needs to run over seven or a mile because she is a little bit fresh. When she drops her head, I think a mile and two will be no problem. Last time Billy (Lee) said she did a little bit too much and she was a little bit free and fresh, so he said to drop her to seven furlongs. I think there is a lot of improvement when she matures, definitely.
