Formscan By John O'Riordan - A faller on her last two starts over fences, LOOK TO THE WEST can win this with a clear round. Unlucky in running when third on her chasing debut at Clonmel in February, the Henry De Bromhead-trained mare opened her account at Kilbeggan next time. Easily the best of these over hurdles, the eight-year-old Westerner mare just needs to negotiate the obstacles to add a second win over fences. A winner at Wexford for her previous trainer, Broomfield Bijou has been highly tried in recent outings. This looks an easier task and, should the selection fail to get around, the James Hannon-trained mare looks best placed to take advantage. Affinity Rock looks best of the remainder.

She is 17.1hh, is a brilliant jumper and is very natural to jump. She will be a chaser, but we won't overrace her and will mind her and pick her races. Jack Lord rides her out every day and has done a great job settling her. My uncle (Noel Collins) bred her and won a point-to-point with her, and thankfully got a syndicate to buy her. She will be a nice mare for them. We might try for black-type somewhere during the summer and she will jump fences sooner rather than later.

It’s not before time anyway! She could have won first time out the same,. She ran a bit keen but he grabbed a good hold of her and settled her in front. They went 34mph nearly the whole way around, they went a fair gallop. She’s a grand filly to have. The lads are anxious to go to Cheltenham in October so we’ll probably go there for a novice hurdle.

she came well recommended for her point-to-point but last year she was just a bit immature still and had a couple of little issues. She'd been working really well and we thought she was nice. It's not easy to make the running around there and it looked a nice race. She hasn't run for a long time so hopefully she'll keep improving as well. She jumped a bit right but otherwise she was really good. We've got her started and now we can look at the next level. I'd say she'll get further but she looked good over that trip. She gallops and jumps. Maybe something like the Solerina (Grade 3 at Fairyhouse in late January) but we'll see what everyone wants to do and enjoy today.
