It was nice today that he had another horse to take him all the way, and the better ground and distance suited. He’s a grand horse. These stores would want to come with a health warning, they just take forever,. We bought him at Tattersalls. Just by the stallion, he has no page whatsoever. He’s a good-looking horse, very correct. I got him cheap enough, five grand, but nobody had looked at the passport and when we got him home we discovered he was a four-year-old, not a three-year-old. We went up to Down Royal thinking we were going to get a dig in the ground, but it was like summer good ground on the chase course and he just didn’t act on it. The plan was to try and find a handicap chase, but there wasn’t one so we said we’d come back for a handicap hurdle. He loves soft ground and I think he’d be better on the main track here as he’s such a big lad. I said to Tiernan to stay out wide, he is riding with unbelievable confidence. He’s a great guy and I’m very lucky he’s associated with us. John (Leckey) is a super owner, he’s a great supported and is with me for years. He never interferes, just let’s me tip away at it. He has a huge interest and is a great guy. I’m very lucky with the people I have around me.

I've had seven horses for himself and his late father over the years but we never had any luck and unfortunately Dick passed away about 18 months ago. It's nice to win in the end. He dead-heated (in Borris House) with the horse (Three By Two) that won the Ladies Cup on Tuesday. You don't like shouting too loud, but we were quietly confident. Richard lives in Bishopscourt House in Kill where the Cup originated from, with the Kennedy family, back in 1880.
