That was lovely. We had actually planned to go chasing with him. We were looking for one of those 110 or less beginners but there were none coming up for a while. He was in good form, I love running horses when they are in good form, and I said to the lads we’d go and try and win another hurdle in the meantime. Hopefully, it won’t put him out of them (beginners' chases) but we’re delighted. He gets two-and-a-half (miles), but a good strong pace at two (miles) definitely suits well as well. He was dropping back in class as well which made a big difference. I thought the Bellewstown race the last day was probably a bit too much anyway, a bit above him. He wants good ground and I was happy the rain didn’t come that they were giving originally. As long as he stays in good form, and the ground is reasonable, we’ll keep running.

I get a great kick out of winning these 0-100s as I hardly ever win them. It's normally Eoin McCarthy or those other brilliant trainers who operate well with these horses. We have an incredible range of trainers in this division and this horse had finished second in this race two years ago. We tried him with blinkers and cheekpieces but took them all off today, except for a sheepskin noseband. He jumped well, never missed a beat and the jumping won it for him. It is fine margins down at this level, but if you jump well and keep saving, that can make the difference. There might be something over fences for him in Galway.

She just didn’t handle Galway and we knew it was too bad to be true,. Normally I wouldn’t run her back this quickly but it looked like an attractive pot and there weren’t many entries so we decided to stick her in. I’m delighted now. The more positive tactics seem to be working with her. She can be tricky and she just likes things her own way. She did it well and that’s her third hurdle win so she’s paying her way. You forgive them for being a little bit tricky, and hard to deal with, when they are able to get you a win or two. She’s a nice mare. She’s in at Tramore next week and if she comes out of this well she’ll probbaly run.

His run at Limerick (runner-up last month) was lovely and solid and, if he came forward at all, he'd have won today's race which wasn't the best on paper. He is a lovely straightforward horse and jumps really well. His jumping was a big asset today and he'll stay chasing. Gaps always open up on heavy ground at Clonmel and Gary was very good on him. She's not winning out of turn - we thought she won in Limerick at Christmas last year and it turned out in the photo-finish that we were beaten,. She had been good and consistent last year. She went straight from point-to-pointing to racing, so perhaps the break has done her well. She was placed four times last season, she was running well, but maybe she has come back a little bit better. She's a lovely, sweet filly, so delighted for the owners (O'Rourke Construction Ltd) that she has got her head in front. We might go chasing straight away with her. She was (professional when she took it up) - she can be a little bit keen at home, so Conor got a little bit of cover and dropped down the inner and she settled very nicely for him. She jumped brilliantly for him, and we said that she is not short of a bit of toe, so I said to leave it until the back of the last. He timed it exactly for that.
