Kimy had the cheekpieces on today but I don't know whether they made the difference as she was coming along well. She had a lot of weight in Ballinrobe the last day and that was a good run. She never scopes clean, that's her problem but had nicer ground today and I knew she was getting better. She only needed to improve a little bit to win this race. She's not winning out of turn - we thought she won in Limerick at Christmas last year and it turned out in the photo-finish that we were beaten,. She had been good and consistent last year. She went straight from point-to-pointing to racing, so perhaps the break has done her well. She was placed four times last season, she was running well, but maybe she has come back a little bit better. She's a lovely, sweet filly, so delighted for the owners (O'Rourke Construction Ltd) that she has got her head in front. We might go chasing straight away with her. She was (professional when she took it up) - she can be a little bit keen at home, so Conor got a little bit of cover and dropped down the inner and she settled very nicely for him. She jumped brilliantly for him, and we said that she is not short of a bit of toe, so I said to leave it until the back of the last. He timed it exactly for that.

last year, I left here deflated when getting out of jail with just one big-priced winner (250/1) and while loads ran ok, it is a funny game as the only currency is winners. At the back end of last year we didn’t have the string of horses we wanted and it was one-thing-after-another which was going wrong. We worked hard at getting quality young horses though and got back rolling in the spring, after going nine months without a win. A month ago, I said we had savage depth with some lovely handicappers, maiden horses and unraced ones and it was the best team we ever had. I dreamed of having six winners but would have settled for three, so this is phenomenal.
