To be honest he’s been very disappointing up until now. . I’d say ground is a lot to do with it and when he gets it a bit quicker he’ll be even better. . On what he did last year you’d be kind of expecting him to be one of the top horses around this year but his couple of runs have been very disappointing. It’s taken him a while to learn how to jump as well. The reason he spent a second season in bumpers was because he was such a poor jumper. . He’s just getting the hang of it now. The last was the only mistake, he jumped brilliant up until that. . Donagh was saying the ground made a huge difference to him. We’ll be able to continue on with him for the summer.

The Raceday Stewards enquired into an incident approximately 250 yards from the finish involving Claude Du Val (FR), ridden by S.W. Flanagan, Midfield Magic, ridden by J. Smith, and Newbrook Diamond, ridden by D.J Gilligan. Evidence was heard from the riders concerned. D J Gilligan stated that his mount has a tendency to hang left so he committed to his intended racing line when at that point Claud Du Val edged in slightly. S W Flanagan stated that his mount angled right on jumping the second last hurdle and felt pressure on his horse's hind quarter which shifted him in slightly. J Smith stated that he maintained his line until his mount followed Claud Du Val in
Having viewed the recording of the race and considered the evidence, the Raceday Stewards took no further action.
