It was well deserved, he’s an honest horse and he tries every time,. He’s obviously not as good as he was in his younger days but still he’s a nice fun horse. He’s often in the money. Wayne said they went a good lick today. We said we’d ride him from the middle, we didn’t want to make the pace as sometimes he might do a bit too much in front. We said we’d switch him off a bit and it worked out grand. A strong pace over seven suited him perfectly. It’s a lovely place to get a winner, we’ve had a few winners up here. He ran well in a big handicap here a year-and-a-half ago. We’ll see what the handicapper does and we might come back here again.

Thrifty Of Digby had three weeks out in the field so was fresh, and was just ready to start back. It was kind of a stepping stone for a fillies handicap in Punchestown, so we’ll go there next. Hopefully we have a nice autumn with her and I think she’s actually after growing. She’s a lovely filly and I’d imagine Pat (Harty, owner) will keep her in training next year as well. It was nice to see that her full-sister, Gloriously Glam, won earlier for Ado (McGuinness).

It is absolutely brilliant. Our family are long associated with here. I honestly thought we would run very, very well. The last winner for the family here was in 1965, trained by my grandfather Eamon Delany and ridden by Francis Flood, which was obviously 60 years ago today. It was one I wanted to get on the CV. Dad is at home and he is not in the best of health, and this is better than any medication. You can’t get this medication. She's a lovely filly. I brought her up here a couple of weeks ago just to see if she would like the surface. I thought it was a nice opportunity to start her off until I saw Ashwiyaa in it and I was a bit worried. She does everything professionally and is a lovely, straightforward filly. She has been a no-nonsense filly, loves being in training and does everything very easily. She's a good-moving filly and I think better ground suits her. She flicks over that top of the ground. I was nearly going to enter her for the race on Saturday, the five furlong Listed race up the Curragh, but I thought it could be a bit greedy or something. We will see what the lads want to do. We are in no hurry with her, she has done the job and we will see what is available. She would be for sale. She would be an ideal one for America, I'd say, the way she settled.

Jack gave him a great ride. I told him to take his time as I knew there would be a good pace with Verhoyen in it,. It set up nicely for him and he just held on. It’s 13 months since he won and the handicapper has been slow to drop him. The horse is getting older and getting slower so he has to come down. I wasn’t really expecting it as I thought his last three runs were disappointing. He surprised me today but he likes it here so you never know. I think there is a race on the last day here but I might just leave him off after this. He probably only has another year in him as he’s turning 10 next year. He’s been a great servant to the yard.
