Act Of God (13/2) put up a fine weight-carrying performance to land the Bective Stud Mullacurry Cup Handicap Hurdle.

Paul Townend took his time aboard the topweight, who shouldered 11st 10lbs, before taking closer at the end of the back straight on the final circuit.

The Camelot gelding led travelling well two out and was driven out to beat Clifftop by a length and a half.

Trained by Edward O’Grady, it was a third win over hurdles for the 6-year-old who had run well to be sixth in a very competitive heat at the Galway Festival.

“The drop in trip and the easier track probably suited him,” said Townend.

“He was a bit sticky early on but we went a good gallop. Edward thought he'd be there or thereabouts and he was spot on.

“Edward's horses are in great form, with Downthecellar and this lad we're getting a good twist out of them.”
