Bearberry lunged late to get up on the line and continue the flying form of Jessica Harrington and Shane Foley, at the Curragh this afternoon.

The Kodiac filly went off the 4/1 favourite for the mile fillies maiden after a good run to finish second on her reappearance at Leopardstown 12 days ago.

She found herself on the back foot today, however, rearing as the stalls opened and Foley had to settle towards the rear.

Launching a challenge down the outer she really started to motor in the closing stages and just pipped Feminism on the line to record a head victory.

“She had a great run at Leopardstown and she came on a ton from that,” said Kate Harrington.

“I was a bit worried about her when we were saddling her as she was a bit fractious and when she went out on the track she was humping her back a bit. She showed it coming out of the stalls.

“There is plenty of improvement in her and I'd say we'll look for a nice winners of one. We'll try and nick a bit of black-type, it would be nice for the owner/breeders.

“She probably wants to go up in trip as well as she just got there on the line.”
