Last season's Champion Apprentice Jockey Dylan Browne McMonagle is to race-ride in Australia for much of this winter, having enjoyed his best tally todate in Ireland with 56 winners already this flat season.

Crowned Champion Apprentice last year with 48 winners, the Donegal rider has ridden eight winners at stakes level this season - each for his employer Joseph O'Brien for whom he won the Group 1 National Stakes in 2022 on Al Riffa.

The rider reports “I’m going to Ciaron Maher’s in Melbourne for a few months, so it’s something to look forward to and it will be a good experience. I’ve never been in Australia before so it’s something to look forward to.

“I’ll have a week or so off after the season ends and head over in the middle of November.

“You need to go everywhere you can when you can to learn as much as possible.”
