COSTELLO GOING OVER FOR ZEALOUS

Trainer John Upson will be keeping things in the family when Dermot Costello rides Over Zealous in the National Hunt Chase at Cheltenham next Wednesday.

Costello's brother Tom won the four-mile contest for Upson on Over The Road in 1988 while Dermot himself has been third and fourth in the race for Upson aboard Ballinhassig and Fighting Jessica.

Upson said: "Dermot is coming over from Ireland especially for the race.

"We would have tried to book Paul Flynn who does 9st 7lb but this way we will not have 3st of dead weight on the horse's back."

Over Zealous, a half-brother to Over The Road, has won four of his six starts this season.

"He is as slow as a boat and finds it difficult to lay up with the pace but he goes the same speed whether it is fast or bottomless," Upson added.

"We need the ground to be soft or heavier, otherwise one or two will go too quickly for him."
