Queens Command (10/1) landed the Soldiers Call @Ballyhane Fillies’ Maiden in the hands of Seamie Heffernan.

The 69-rated performer was pushed along in fifth passing the two-furlong marker and began to pick up when switched to the outer. She finished her race out well to beat Toriangel and luckless 5/6 favourite Native Queen (denied racing room more than once) by one and three-parts of a length and three parts of a length.

Winning trainer Kevin Coleman said: “It worked out well as the owner (Demi O'Byrne) is here today.

“She's threatened to do that. The last day she got tired in Navan.

“All her form last year has worked out. We fancied her first time out in Bellewstown and group horses came out of that race. Listowel was a good race as well.

“She's a big filly and she was weak last year.

“If she was in a handicap we would have had our house on her! There was no race for her so we chanced a maiden today and we weren't worried about her rating.

“We don't know her trip because she's so laid back, she could go up as well as down. She did look under a little bit of pressure there today but she is still kind of green for the amount of runs she's had.

“We'll see what Demi wants to do with her and we'll see what the handicapper does. We might stick at the handicap route now or she might even be sold.”
