DOUMEN WANTS HONG KONG TONIC

Jim And Tonic will bid for a repeat win in the Audemars Piguet Queen Elizabeth II Cup at Sha Tin, Hong Kong, next month, it was confirmed today.

The Francois Doumen-trained gelding is in line for a HK #1million bonus for his connections by adding the April 16th contest to his victory in the Hong Kong Cup last December.

Jim And Tonic has just returned from Singapore where he was beaten a neck by Ouzo in the Singapore Airlines International Cup earlier this month.

His owner John Martin had been considering taking up an invitation to run in the World Cup in Dubai on March 25th but Doumen said: "I will have to see how he is in two weeks' time but he will definitely now be aimed for Hong Kong and not Dubai.

"He was in front too soon in Singapore. He stops when he hits the front so one has to be disappointed by being beaten there, he should have won."
