JJ Slevin recorded a first and last race double at Fairyhouse this afternoon when scoring on Greenhill Damsel in the second division of the two-and-a-half mile handicap hurdle.

The Garrett Power-trained daughter of Flemensfirth swooped into the lead turning for home and galloped on strongly in the closing stages to open her account.

15/8 favourite Arctic Ambition gave chase in the closing stages but could only get within four-and-a-quarter lengths of the 9/1 winner.

Greenhill Damsel had been fifth on her handicap debut at Limerick over Christmas.

Power:- “I’m delighted for the owners (Killtippford Syndicate) who are from Kilkenny, Tipperary and Waterford. They are a real nice gang and this is a real nice mare.

“She went close in a bumper early on in the season and she just needed a bit of time. She’s big and close to 17 hands.

“We rode her a bit more prominent today and she jumped way better.

“She didn’t handle the ground in Limerick the last day and will be a chaser in time.”
