Golden Spangle followed up her recent maiden win at Down Royal when making a winning return to handicap company in the concluding Weatherbys GSB Handicap at Naas.

A 12-race maiden prior to getting her head in front at the Northern track last month, the daughter of Dawn Approach had run some fine races in defeat, being placed on six occasions.

However, having finally negotiated a passage to the winning post in front, the three-year-old doubled up here with a determined battling performance under Rory Cleary.

Heading Je T'ai Porte over two furlong out, the Bolger trained filly kept on well to hold the late challenge of Turbulence Not for the first time, the Ross O'Sullivan trained runner-up enjoyed little luck in running.

Travelling head lad Ger Flynn: “She's backed up well from Down Royal the last day.

“Jim just thought the cheekpieces would make her concentrate a little bit better and he was right, she needed them there in the end just to keep her concentrating.

“She's in at Sligo on Wednesday and hopefully she'll go there, if she's good and healthy.”
