Harry's Legacy completed a double for Wayne Lordan at Killarney, as he just prevailed in a thrilling finish to the Irish Examiner Handicap.

An eye-catching second on his handicap debut at Gowran in May, the Henry de Bromhead trained four-year-old got off the mark on his next start at Leopardstown.

Well-fancied to follow-up this evening, the son of Teofilo was sent off the 10/3 favourite in the colours of Oliver and Clare Byrne.

Settled in rear by Lordan, who was earlier successful on Molly's Gamble the bay victor made steady headway with five furlongs left to race.

Ridden on the outer from the two furlong pole, he came with his challenge inside the final furlong and edged to the front with less than 50 yards to race, keeping on best to prevail by a head.

Jessie Evans (4/1) lost little in defeat, filling the runner-up spot under Colin Keane, while the luckless Cozzone (20/1), who was struck in the head by a rival jockey's whip over a furlong out, was another head back in third.

Lordan said in the aftermath: "It worked out well, he settled well and enjoys racing like that. He had a battle on his hands and for those horses going two miles it is a long way but he is a very good stayer.

"He could be a strong stayer next year as well."
