Review BALLINROBE 1ST JUN

Trainer James Burns described Charmed Forest as an improving type and that was clear for all to see as his filly routed the opposition by eight lengths in the Jimmy Tierney Memorial Maiden at Ballinrobe last night.

Davy Condon sent the 2 to 1 joint favourite for home two furlongs out and she pulled away in the straight to beat fellow market leader Icarus Dream with ease.

Burns was delighted with the performance and holds the winner in high regard:' She is in a listed race at Gowran Park on Sunday. That may come a bit quick, but we will try and get some black type with her. There is also the option of the Premier Handicaps and the McDonogh at Galway could be an option.'

Training honours went to Peter Casey, who landed a double on the flat and over jumps with Knock On (12/1) and Palace Storm (100/30).

Knock On was produced late by Rory Cleary to take the Finlay Mace Maxol Handicap by a length from Go On My Beauty.

Palace Storm, however, took over with a circuit to go in the Cunningham Londis Handicap Chase and jockey Shane McCann didn't have to move a muscle to beat Princess Alannah by two-and-a-half lengths.

Casey was in jubilant form and put the ease of the victory down to the fact that the horse enjoys a much lower handicap mark over fences than over hurdles.

Brutto Facie atoned for a fall at Gowran Park last time when landing odds of 1 to 2 in the Westgate Developments Maiden Hurdle.

Pat Smullen made the drive worthwhile when partnering Antigone to success for boss Dermot Weld in the Western People Handicap.
