Review FAIRYHOUSE 12TH NOV

Punters at Fairyhouse were treated to another famous Oliver Brady-style celebration after the Co. Monaghan trainer saddled Biennale to win the featured Clover Hill Hurdle.

Florida Coast looked to have the race won jumping the last but Biennale (20/1 - 16/1) battled well under Martin Mooney to lead in the final strides for a short head win over James Bowe's charge.

Brady's post race 'analysis' was delivered, in the winners' enclosure, to a delighted crowd with Brady announcing 'anyone with two eyes at Navan last week could have seen this fellow needs a trip.' He added 'he's as good a novice as there is in the country.'

Jockey Ruby Walsh, who was making his return to the saddle after injury, was unhurt from a fall from 5/4 favourite Thaix in the race.

Noel Meade's Saddlers' Mark displayed a tendency to jump to the left when winning the opening beginners' chase. The son of Saddlers' Hall also benefited from the fall of nearest pursuer Rocking Ship who brought down Aughawillan at the fifth last.

Enda Bolger has the Sporting Index Cross Country Chase at Cheltenham in December in mind for his ex point to pointer Shady Lad (8/1 - 6/1) who won the Warrenstown Handicap Chase under David Casey. Casey produced the gelding with a well timed challenge, with favourite Fable (third) unable to recover from a few jumping mistakes.

Arthur Moore's Jirlan was another well backed winner, in the 22 runner two mile handicap hurdle. Conor O'Dwyer produced the 5/2 favourite to lead before the third last flight, with the gelding holding enough in reserve to hold the challenge of Pacific Alliance.

Moore later mentioned Jirlan might reappear in another handicap hurdle at Punchestown on Saturday.

Mick Halford and Adrian Lane combined to win the four year old maiden hurdle with Shaunas Vision. Even money favourite Louisville jumped slowly and was well beaten jumping the second last, while Lane drove Shaunas Vision into the lead inside the final furlong.

Val O'Brien's One Shot Sheehan (10/1) caused a minor surprise when winning the 2m4f handicap hurdle. The seven year old joined the leader Listenlads at the last before racing clear inside the final furlong under good five pound claimer Larry Hurley.

The concluding bumper saw JP Magnier triumph on David Wachman's Master Albert, who was effectively making his debut after slipping up on his only previous run.
