Review GOWRAN PARK 13TH OCT

Trainer John Oxx stole the limelight at Gowran Park, monopolising the opening three flat events for a magnificent 527/1 treble, highlighted by Julie Jalouse's success in the Denny Cordell Lavarack Memorial Fillies Stakes.

Deserted by Johnny Murtagh in favour of stable-mate Only The Lonely for the Listed 1m1f contest, the three year-old just contained the unlucky-in-running Molomo by a neck under super-sub Fran Berry.

'I thought all three of my runners had a chance of raching in the money,' said the winning trainer. 'This filly didn't quite get home over 1m2f at the Curragh last time, and barely lasted out the trip today.'

Julie Jalouse is set to continue her career in the US, with her participation in next Sunday's Garnet Stakes now described as unlikely.

Oxx's two other winners, both partnered by Murtagh, were achieved in remarkably similar fashion.

Masakala's set the ball rolling when gamely holding off the fast-finishing Emperor Naheem in the opening 7f handicap.

The top--weights's aversion to the starting stalls has been a constant problem, and Oxx admitted that he had been worried when she again started playing up beforehand.

'I'm highly delighted,' said Oxx. 'She's very uncomfortable with the stalls, and now that she's won we may call it a day with her.'

Winner number two arrived courtesy of Crooked Wood, who justified favouritism when denying Cat Five in a desperate finish to the nursery, and may now step up in class for the Listed Silken Glider Stakes.

Paul Carberry continued his excellent form when partnering a double aboard Sigma Dotcomm and April Allegro, who showed courage in abundance to capture the #30,000 Tote Exacta Handicap Hurdle.

As usual, the bookmakers had the final say as 25/1 chance Classified took the bumper,
