Review LIMERICK 12TH APR

Tim Doyle took the training honours with a 44/1 double when saddling Lucky Lynsey and Dame Noir to win both divisions of the Derrinstown Stud Apprentice Handicap.

Lucky Lynsey will bid for a quick follow up at Cork this weekend after easily scoring under Billy Lee in div 1, the local rider sitting motionless as he cruised 3 1/2L clear of the staying-on Akeydah.

Dame Noir was also an easy winner for Chris Geoghegan in div 2, just pushed out to beat Anotion by 1 1/2L and she could also run again at Cork.

Lisselan Eagle was sent off the heavily-backed 7/4 favourite (from 3/1) for the 1m maiden, and Pat Smullen's mount easily strode clear in the final furlong to beat Miss Mason by 3 1/2L.

'He handled the ground well, and we could go for a handicap with him now. He looks the type that might make a nice hurdler,' said trainer Dermot Weld.

Wayne Lordan is setting the early pace at the head of the jockeys table, and brought his tally to five for the season aboard Stolen Summer in the auction maiden.

The Tommy Stack-trained gelding, who reportedly strengthened up well over the winter, was always travelling well and quickened up to beat Baynes Cross by two lengths.

Thomond O'Mara and Michael Cleere both got off the mark for the new season when 16/1 outsider Master Marvel (25.30 on the Tote) caused a shock in the 7f rated race.

The 5yo was nearer last than first early in the straight but burst through between horses and stretched clear in the closing stages to beat favourite Foxy Gwynne by 4 1/2L.

Chris Hayes, whose claim is reduced fom 5lb to 3lb tomorrow, successfully adopted front-running tactics on Hurricane Alley in the 1m3f handicap.

Menwaal (4/6-1/1f) belied a lack of confidence in the ring when driven to the front over a furlong out by Declan McDonogh in the 1m3f winners race to beat Arafan (4/1-11/4) by 2L.
