Review TIPPERARY 20TH OCT

David Casey partnered his second career treble when partnering all three chase winners, Over The First, Satcoslam and I Can Imagine, in front of a modest crowd at Tipperary on Saturday.

Spokesman was strongly fancied to make a successful transition to fences in the Autumn Beginners Chase, but was unable to match Over The First in the straight. Casey's mount drew clear before the last to beat the staying on Prince Dante by four lengths, with Spokesman holding every chance a further half length back in third.

Satcoslam defied topweight in the Willie O'Rourke Memorial Handicap Chase, with the six-year-old benefitting from a final fence mistake by Brown Buck to score by four lengths.

Casey completed a 125/1 treble, and brought his tally for the season to 16, when again enjoying some good fortune at the final fence. I Can Imagine and Commanche Pride looked set to fight out a driving finish until the latter blundered and unseated Steven Ryder at the last. I Can Imagine was left to come home 14 lengths clear of Atha Beithe.

With both Michael Kinane and John Murtagh riding at the 'Champions Day' meeting in Newmarket, Pat Smullen strengthened his position at the head of the Flat jockeys championship when successful aboard Moayed.

The Dermot Weld-trained colt was sent off 2/1 favourite for the Tipperary EBF Maiden having filled the runner-up berth at Listowel last month, and justified those odds in impressive fashion. Smullen recorded his 76th winner of the season as Moayed stretched clear from the furlong pole to beat Kiltubber by five lengths.
