Frankel colt Nation's Call landed the one-mile maiden under Chris Hayes.

Dropping back in trip having been placed over 1m2f on his first two starts of the season, the Moyglare-bred colt was always prominent from his low draw and led turning out of the back straight.

Travelling better than those behind him with two furlongs to race, the 11/10 favourite knuckled down well under pressure to beat market rival Cuban Dawn and big outsider Highland Rahy by half a length and a head.

Winning trainer Dermot Weld said: “He's been consistent and he gave him a good straightforward ride. It's lovely ground here this evening, he's a tough colt and battled well.

When asked if this was his trip he added:- “I'd say so, maybe another furlong. He did everything right, loved the ground and battled well.”

“We'll see how he comes out of the race, he's rated 92 so we might have to start looking for black-type with him.”
