Another Nightmare proved an aptly named winner for many when recording a 40/1 shock in division two of the Guinness Handicap Hurdle at Listowel.

The Shark Hanlon-trained mare was ridden along in fifth approaching the penultimate flight when the whole complexion of this three-mile race changed.

The leader Spring Street fell at the second last, while Gigantamax Eevee also fell when close up in third hampering Jeriko De Baune who unseated his rider.

This all left Mr Social in front but he was soon threading water as Another Nighmare swept through to lead and was driven clear on the run-in by Shane Fenelon to score by four and three-quarter lengths.

Amazing Amy stayed on into second with Mr Social finding no extra a further six lengths adrift.

This stamina test proved too much for most of the 17 runners with just five completing the three miles.

Hanlon said, "Her previous owner in Wexford sent her up to me to see if I had anyone to buy her and I ended up buying her myself for 1,200 pounds. The syndicate (Meadows Racing Club) had a horse with me which got hurt so I gave them this filly.

"I told the lads she wouldn't be out of the first four as her runs were good enough the whole way and we knew she wanted a trip.

"The syndicate are all Tipperary lads and the first thing they did today was hand me a cheque for training fees. I'm delighted for them as they're with me a good while and are a very straight crowd."
