Aesop's Fables made a winning debut in the Irish Stallion Farms EBF Maiden at Navan.

Ryan Moore had the debutant out smartly and tracked early leader Midnight Toker to the 2f pole.

Once Colin Keane got busy on the latter, Moore made his move on the Ballydoyle trained colt and quickened up smartly to go clear of his rivals.

Fellow newcomer Tanaiyla stayed on nicely under Chris Hayes to take second place.

It was a very encouraging debut from the Aga Khan owned filly.

Aidan O'Brien 's representative Chris Armstrong said: "He's a very smart horse and has done all his homework very nicely. Aidan was very happy with him and Ryan has sat on him a few times and was very happy with him.

"We'll try and give him one run before (Royal) Ascot - it will either be in the valuable winners' race at Naas or there's a winners of one at the Curragh on June 1st. Then hopefully on to Ascot. Fingers crossed he is a very smart horse going forward.

"He's obviously from the family of Washington DC who was a precocious two-year-old. He's got plenty of options and is one you would love to have in your stable."

The winner was cut from 14/1 to 10/1 for the Coventry with Paddy Power.
