Leopardstown CEO Tim Husbands and Paul Mallon of Paddy Power Bookmakers
Paddy Power has been announced as the new sponsor of the Irish Gold Cup at Leopardstown.
The Grade One contest will carry increased prize-money of €250,000 for this year’s renewal, which is the feature event on the second day of the Dublin Racing Festival on Sunday, February 2.
Bellshill gave Willie Mullins a record 10th success last season. The champion trainer memorably saddled the popular Florida Pearl to win the race four times between 1999 and 2004.
The Michael Hourigan-trained Beef Or Salmon and Peter Beaumont’s Jodami were three-time winners, while Sizing John was victorious in 2017 before going on to become the first horse to win the Irish Gold Cup, Cheltenham Gold Cup and Punchestown Gold Cup in the same season.
