STARKE TO JOIN FOREIGN INFLUX

German champion Andrasch Starke is the latest top international rider to try his hand in Britain.

He hopes to be in action in this country in the next week, with a view to further visits later this season.

'Andrasch will fly back and forth, very much as Olivier Peslier does,' said Peter Harris, who will be booking mounts for the 26-year-old.

'I hope to get him started in the next week or so.

'He has ridden 800-odd winners, including 56 Group winners worldwide, and he has ridden in Dubai, Hong Kong and the USA.'

Starke, champion rider in 1998 and 1999, is stable-jockey to Cologne-based trainer Andreas Schutz.

He has won most of the big races in his own country, including the German Derby on Robertico in 1998, and has scored overseas on the likes of Caitano, Sternkonig and Waky Nao.
