They went very hard up front in the second split of the Peadar Kearney's Pub Handicap and it was the Luke Comer-trained Sod's Law (22s into 12/1 before the off) who came from well back in the field to score.

Twice a winner in Britain in 2018, it was a first Irish success for the Mayson gelding who had only a couple of rivals behind him three furlongs out. The gaps opened up for Chris Hayes racing to the final furlong and his mount stayed on best to account for take My Hand and Philly's Hope by half a length and the same.

Rated 82 on his first Irish start in 2020, he was winning here off 46.

Assistant trainer Jim Gorman said: "This fella is an enigma, he has plenty of ability. As you can see, he wouldn't go early. He was pushing and shoving him and everything else.

"He stood on my toe and broke my toe before he went down and hopped Chris (Hayes) off the rail and nearly broke his toe too.

"Listen that's the way he is, he has plenty of ability. He gave him a great ride and persevered.

"I love this place and they do a fantastic job here, they deserve all the plaudits they get. They do everything properly. They have a fabulous watering system."
